Mary Hoffman is an acclaimed children’s author and critic. She is the author of the internationally bestselling picture book Amazing Grace. The first three novels for Bloomsbury in the Stravaganza series have also been bestsellers. The fourth, Stravaganza: City of Secrets, was published in July 2008. She is a complete aficionado of Italy, and one of her novels, The Falconer’s Knot, short-listed for The Guardian Fiction Award, is also set there.

Troubadour, published by Bloomsbury in August 2009, is a story of persecution and poetry, love and war set in 13th Century Southern France. Full of drama and action, this novel will appeal to all fans of The Falconer's Knot.

Mary is the editor of Armadillo, a children’s literature review magazine. She has three grown-up children and lives with her husband in West Oxfordshire.
